Percy Bishton - Woodworker and Turner
I live and work in Hope, a village in the heart of the Peak District National Park. I am also one of the owners of The Climbing Works in Sheffield - the Worlds best indoor climbing wall. As well as building climbing walls, I also create unique objects, structures and furniture from solid wood using hand tools.
I work in native timber which is sourced and processed locally, often with the assistance of my friends at Arborist Tree Care. You can be sure that most of my work will contain some or all its timber from trees grown within a ten mile radius of my workshop.
I am a hand-tool woodworker. My use of machinery is kept to a minimum, and is only used in the initial processing of the timber. There are very good reasons for this - some of them are here.
Everything I make is beautiful, unique and has the feel of something that has been made by hand.
